FOI Music creates original soundtracks for visual stories, fashion films and monthly FOI Magazine projects. This journal documents the thinking behind that work in clear, practical language.
The idea
Pehli Chai turns a familiar ritual into a memory trigger. The first cup is not important because of the drink alone; it carries a morning, a person, a pause and the private atmosphere around them.
A song about the emotional detail hidden inside an everyday first cup of tea. For FOI Music, the purpose is always to keep the emotional meaning clear while giving the listener enough space to form a personal relationship with the work.
How the craft supports it
The collaboration between Sumit Das and Sourish Mukherjee keeps the idea close to conversation. Hindi gives the image immediacy, while the arrangement supports warmth without making the memory too polished.
A strong production decision should still make sense when the visual reference is removed. Sound and image can belong to the same world without one becoming dependent on the other.
A practical way to begin
When writing from daily life, protect one physical detail. A cup, window, sleeve or unfinished sentence can hold more emotion than a general declaration of love.
Begin with one honest intention, test it in the real context where the work will be experienced, and remove anything that competes with that intention.
